Does anyone remember in the mid-80s when Sullivan used "WE ARE THE TOWN" as a slogan? It was on the light poles up and down Clark Street. I feel like there was also a parade that revolved around that slogan. Anyone else remember?

I'm looking into chronicling the history and oddities of the town in the '80s and '90s. Thanks.

Thanks, Carolyn, for your well wishes--and thanks to the many, many people who have called, emailed or stopped us on the street to inquire about the condition of Juli and Zoey.

Juli is just fine, and will deliver her baby by c-section on Monday, May 12. The date was set before the accident, and is in no way related to it. We are looking forward to meeting our newest little granddaughter.

Zoey is making progress everyday. She spent the first two full days in intensive care at St. Louis Children's hospital. She was then moved to a regular room, where she still remains. We are not sure when we will be able to bring her home, but we hope it is in the next few days. Zoey cannot walk yet, nor can she sit up alone. It actually took her several days to be able to feed herself at all, but she is able to feed herself finger foods now. She is now speaking quite a bit, though still not as clearly as she could before the accident. Her speech also improves daily, however.

Zoey is in the care of the best physicians, nurses and therapists available, and she had a family member with her around the clock since the night of the accident.

Again, thanks to everyone for their concern--and please conitnue to keep Zoey and her family in your prayers.

The Sullivan Sesquicentennial homepage is still alive and well. Although the short name of sullivan150years is no longer valid, the website itself is hosted by the Sullivan School District and is still accessible.

For those of you who'd like another trip down memory lane, add the following link to your browser favorites, and be sure to read and listen to Bob Cosgrove's "As I Recall" stories. They are priceless!

Enjoy!

To recontinue building the damn in sullivan wouldnt only bring revenue to sullivan, but would lower electric rates, raise property value, bring JOBS to people who need them, and actually put this town on the map! And for everyone, including me, who believes there isnt a decent thing to do in this town, this dam could bring so much recreation to sullivan, and surrounding towns, so that we can enjoy life here even more. The dam project is a win win situtaion.

I want to give a shout out to all our soldiers in and around the community. Who are serving over seas, and in state.

I am a wife of a sgt of the Army National Guard who is leaving on his first deployment on the Kfor10 mission. I am thankful that it is Kosovo and not dreaded Iraq. My heart really goes out to all the wives, family and friends of the soldiers over in the middle east. I am several weeks into this deployment, and I some times don't know how to handle this. So, kuddos to you veteran wives and mothers, you have some helpful advise I would love to hear it.

My heart goes out to those families who are leaving for Kosovo. Ladies I am here. Any time, any place, I am here.

Private Brewer, Private Langley, Spc.Tillet, And Sgt. Phelps...You come home to us safe. We are all proud of you!

I am proud of all of our soldiers. Thank you for your service, thank you all for stepping up and being courageous men and women. God bless you all and may come home safe in God speed. May you get your weight in care packages and letters. To the morale of these fine people..the wives/husbands, mothers/fathers, sons/daughters. Thank you for your support! Your just as important part of the military as the soldiers. Because of our love and support of them, they risk their lives for us. To keep us free.

just wanted to comment on the road conditions in sullivan.... no matter what path you may have to take to get to town you have to drive over one of these roads.. i understand there is alot of construction going on so we should expect some rough roads but my goodness the damage on the vehicles is unreal...
